Spanish Teacher
I attended High School in deep south Texas. The town I grew up in is call San Benito. It was a small town then and growing up there was an awesome thing. I graduated in 1979, and left to go attend the University of Houston. I was hoping to get my degree in Music and teach choir at the High School level. As it ended up, I got my degree from Sam Houston State University in Communication with a Minor in Spanish.
B.A. Communication
Certifications in Spanish and Speech
I started my teaching career at the High School level in Tarkington. This was in 2003. I started as a Speech teacher and Debate coach. Our L/D and CX teams did very well and went to the State competition in Austin several years in a row.
I was then asked to teach the Spanish classes where I have been up to this point in time.
I have only taught in the Tarkington School District. My goal is to earn my Ph.D and teach at a University.
I am married and have been for 33 years. My wife and I have put together a very large family that we are very proud of. Our children have all been adopted and have come out of the Child Protective Services program here in Texas. Most of my kids are grown and have some of their own.
I am a grandpa.
I am an avid cyclist. I have done the MS 150 multiple time. I am currently in training to do an Ironman. Up until this time, I have done a sprint and an olympic race.
