I have made strides to gain a greater more assessable knowledge base within the content areas that I teach. I completed these with the hope that I can dispense knowledge through to a multitude of learning styles. One way that I do this is to attend my campuses Reading department and English Language Arts departments meetings, and various workshops and developments pertaining to student learning styles and engagement. I focused my attention on improving my skills dealing with reading disorders that affect student success. However, one of the most valuable programs that I attended was Project CRISS, an amazing student centered lesson planning approach, covering all learning styles. This training helped me better understand how to set up my students Individual Education Plans, goals and objectives. Then it also helped me see the importance of setting up student friendly lessons that foster student engagement. I also attended several workshops dealing with regulatory laws, accommodations and modifications dealing with special education and special needs children. Finally, after completing and collaboratively devised professional developments that have helped me and my peers to prepare students for the upcoming year.
