HOSA Mission

HOSA-Future Health Professionals is a global student-led organization, whose mission is to promote career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

About Our HOSA Chapter

The Tarkington HOSA Chapter hasn't been open in the previous years. However, this year in 2022-2023, we mark a new start for this high school's Chapter with our sponsor Ashten Morgan, LVN and Health Science teacher. A new group of students with Mrs. Morgan have come together to restart this club and engage in healthcare related activities.

In October of 2022, the HOSA club was invited by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science in Houston with our Tarkington BETA club. There were tons of engaging and hands-on activities. Some of those include a suture class (as seen on the top left picture with Cheyenne Lewis and Cameron Dawson), a phlebotomy class (top right with Abby Peachee), and a lab where we got to see first hand how they determine blood type using our own blood (consensually.) As well, we were able to watch a live dissection of a lamb heart to view the inner anatomy of the organ, which was exciting to our members since a few of them are EKG Technician Certified. Overall, it was a really great experience.
