Athletic Training
What is athletic training?
Athletic trainers are educated in the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Services of an athletic trainer include injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The profession of athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied healthcare profession.
For more information on the profession of athletic training and what an athletic trainer does please go to the National Athletic Training Association website.
High School Athletes
The athletic training room is located in the high school by the gym and across from the Nurse’s office. Athletes who need to be seen for treatment or injury evaluation can go in during their lunch period or after school. They can be seen outside of this time if they have made prior arrangements with the athletic trainer. Athletes should not miss class or practice time to go to the athletic training room.
Middle School Athletes
Middle school athletes who have an injury should report the injury to their coach or have their parent report their injury through Healthy Roster. Once an injury is reported the athlete will be seen during their athletic period.
Healthy Roster
Healthy Roster is an electronic medical record system. This is where all injuries, treatments, and paperwork are documented. Each athlete will have their profile which their parents will have access to. This is where all documentation will be stored including athletic forms, injury evaluations, doctor’s notes, etc. Parents, if you have not received an invitation to join Healthy Roster please email the athletic trainer.
